Carolina was born and raised in South Florida. When she was in fifth grade, she remembers a special guest visiting her class—a veterinarian who brought along a Saint Bernard. The veterinarian spoke about the effects of heartworm disease in dogs, and from that day on, Carolina found veterinary medicine very intriguing.
